You are Salt and Light – Children’s Version
Based on Matthew 5:13-16

Jesus used a couple of simple things that you’d easily find in this world to teach us what He has made us to be in His kingdom. We are salt because we are the “preservative” in a world decaying of sin. We are light because we will be easily seen by the world as we live our faith and witness to it. Our witnessing for the Lord matters so much! So we always strive to “pass the salt” and “be the light.”

Trust in God’s Strength…even through the tears
    Based on Matthew 5:4

Nobody likes to be sad, but Jesus talked about how mourning could be a really good thing in a Christian’s life. We mourn over sins in society, and especially our own sins. But Jesus said that we are blessed when we mourn because it shows how the Holy Spirit is active in our hearts and because God offers and gives comfort to us at the same time. Only God’s strength could sustain us when we are sad...by making us glad!

    Series: Epiphany
    Based on Genesis 9:1-11

After God nearly destroyed all life on earth he needed to set the record straight that life does matter to him. He proves that all life, whether plant, animal or human, matters to him. And he showed how important all human life is, buy sending his own son to die in order to save it. Only looking to that sacrifice will we make sacrifices for other lives.

    Baptized…For You
    Series: Epiphany
    Based on Matthew 3:13-17

When people consider the account of Jesus’ baptism it can get a little confusing. They know baptism is important because through that sacrament God washes our sins away. But Jesus was sinless. He didn’t need forgiveness. It’s good to remember that Jesus was showing his active and passive obedience to His Heavenly Father through His baptism. That’s good news for us! Jesus did everything right - for us. And he passively obeyed His Heavenly Father by journeying to the cross to pay for our sins - a ministry started by His baptism!
