Reevaluate on Reformation
stand-storm-thumbBased on John 8:31-36

Jesus certainly wants us to rejoice that we have the truth of the Gospel. It sets us free from the guilt of our sins. But he also wants us to reevaluate our relationship with our Lord to make sure that we are remaining in His Word and that we aren’t stubborning clinging to our sins. We do that through confessing our sins to God. That helps to keep us accountable for our sins and puts us in a wonderful position to hear about our Savior’s forgiveness once again.

    Come and See God’s Glory
    Based on Psalm 19:1-6

King David invited everyone to take a little break from the struggles and trials of life and to come and see God’s glory. He said that it was almost like God was preaching a “silent sermon” every night by putting his creation on display in the heavens above and the earth below. So today we take a break from everything else and simply praise God for the awesome, majestic God that He is. He revealed His glory in what he made here for us and in what He did for us in the sending of His Son!

    A Community of Repentance
    Based on Luke 15:11-22

The Christian Community is always under attack, but there is one thing that builds it up, rather than tearing it down. It’s repentance. It is great for the community because it has two parts to it - sorrow over sin and confidence in God’s forgiveness. That leads to other blessings like joy and humility within the community of believers, too. God’s grace is behind it all.

The Side-Effects of Being a Christian
    Series: Red Letters
    Based on Luke 12:49-53

Even the best prescription drugs come with some unpleasant side effects. Jesus said it works in a similar way being a Child of God. We have the miracle cure of God’s forgiveness, but the sinful world doesn’t often react well to God and His message and they will persecute Christians because of it. Jesus told us to be ready for those attacks where the devil would even try to cause divisions in our families to shipwreck our faith. Jesus wants us to stand firm with him and not give up our faith for any thing or any one.

Have in Mind the Things Above
    Based on Colossians 3:1-4

The Apostle Paul told us to set our minds on things above. But what does that mean? It involves avoiding the “things below” like materialism and selfishness (the way the world thinks and operates), and focusing on the future glory that God promises to us in heaven!

    Just Relax – Children’s Version
    Based on Luke 10:38-42

We live in a fast-paced world that pulls us in so many different directions. As a result, anxiety and stress fill our lives. Martha felt that way, too, as she tried to make sure everything was ready for Jesus to visit her home. Jesus reminded Martha — and us — that we need to get rid of the distractions in our life that take our focus away from Jesus and His Word, the one thing needful. We do that by listening to what Jesus has to say! He continually reminds us of His love and forgiveness. He is the One who helps us to relax and slow down and enjoy His peace and love.
