“Focus your thoughts on Jesus the Carpenter”
Series: Epiphany
Based on Hebrews 3:1-6

Perhaps Jesus helped Joseph out with the family carpentry business until Jesus entered His public ministry. But Jesus just kept right on building. He went from working on wooden boats...to working on people. God says we are His house (his family of believers), and Jesus built it. He builds people from the inside out, using the Word of God, to make God’s beautiful house. He also rules over that house, not by rules/regulations, but by pouring out hope and courage from his promises to our faith. So let’s fix our thoughts on Jesus, the builder and ruler of God’s Kingdom!

    “Believe the Lord”
    Series: Epiphany
    Based on Genesis 15:1-6

It’s getting to be that you can’t trust your eyes anymore. Computer-generated graphics on TV and “photo-shopped” images make it difficult to trust what you see. But, in a sense, that’s ok for Christians. We live by faith and not by sight, St. Paul said. Even though things might not always seem right in our life, we still have the promises of God to fall back on. We believe the Lord - despite what we often see on the outside, but especially in light of God’s promises!

“Get Ready for a Tender Moment”
    Based on Luke 1:26-38

Christmas is filled with “tender moments.” From gathering as a family around a Christmas tree, watching the little ones rip open presents to watching special Christmas programs that our children are in….it seems to be one tender moment after another. The danger for any Christian is to lose sight of the most tender moment about Christmas. It’s the message about the Savior, found in God’s own Word. We appreciate all the tender moments of Christmas as a gift from God, but treasure the greatest tender moment, the message of the Christ Child’s coming to be our Savior, most of all.

Will God Forgive Me if Someone Else Won’t Forgive Me for a Sin?
    Series: Forgiveness
    Based on Matthew 16:19

Sometimes it gets confusing for Christians when we hear Jesus say, “if you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven. And if you do not forgive anyone his sins, they are not forgiven.” It can make you nervous, especially when someone might not want to forgive you when you repent. But God is the final authority on everything - especially forgiveness. Even if someone else won’t forgive my repentant heart, God always will. He even gave his Church on earth the “Ministry of the Keys” to work toward that very goal of repentance and faith. May God continue to grant forgiving hearts - just like his.
