Peter’s Confession…is our confession…a supreme Confession
Based on Matthew 16:13-18

Confessions of faith come in all sorts of shapes and sizes (words and actions). Jesus helps us to see why Peter’s confession was something so great and worthwhile to share in. It highlights the fact that everything in our life depends on Jesus, and he always comes through for us. Our standing with God doesn’t depend on the level of our confession, but on what Jesus did for us. That makes for great confessions of faith out of thanks for who Jesus is and what he did for us.

A Gentle Whisper on the Mountain
    Based on 1 Kings 19:9-18

God is certainly powerful. It was with just a few words he created the entire universe, making everything we see out of nothing. That’s power. Sometimes we expect that the way God accomplishes his plans is through amazing acts of power. But in 1 Kings 19 God reminds us that sometimes he hides his power and accomplishes great things through something as simple as a gentle whisper.

    First Things First!
    Based on Matthew 14:13-21

This week’s characteristic of the Christian: The Christian trusts in God to provide. Easier said than done, but the Lord gives us many and great reasons to do so. Let his life, his miracles, and his cross, bolster your trust in him to provide!

    What’s Your Greatest Treasure?
    Based on Matthew 13:44-52

We continue to hear parables from our Savior that teach us important truths about life and eternity. In these verses from Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us what our greatest treasure is and encourages us to be willing to give up all else to keep it. There is nothing of greater worth than the eternal life we have in Jesus Christ, given to us through the gospel!

There are some things you should know about weeds…
    Based on Matthew 13:24-30;36-43

Weeds are tricky. Jesus certainly thought so. The problem with weeds is that you sometimes can’t tell the difference between a weed and a good plant. That also carries over into our spiritual life. Jesus said that weeds (unbelievers) involve sowing, growing and mowing. He told us why (or who) sowed those weeds, why allow them to grow and why we don’t have to worry about them forever. The more we know about them, the more equipped we are to deal with them in a godly way!
